Compass Group Belgilux, one of Belgium's major players in
the food service and facility management market, has recently been
ISO 14001 certified. This recognition is a direct result of the
sustainable environmental policy that the Compass Group carries out
worldwide. The aim of this is to develop an improved system that
continuously monitors, gauges and optimises the company's
environmental performance.
Taking action against waste
The awarding of the ISO 14001 certificate means that Compass
Belgilux has actively and successfully engaged itself in limiting
the ecological impact of its activities. This means that reducing
the waste materials produced (such as food packaging and wastage)
is given absolute priority. Moreover, a great deal of attention is
given to rational energy consumption during the production process
and proper waste water management. In fact, with a view to greater
efficiency in sorting residual waste, Compass Group Belgilux
recently developed 'Trim Trax'. This programme monitors and
measures the everyday quantity of waste, and provides the cooking
teams with an instant overview of the volumes consumed daily and
the cost impact.
2012 Objective
De ISO 14001 certification reinforces the ambitions of Compass
Group Belgilux to reduce the CO2 emissions of its
vehicle fleet (personal and food transport) and to stimulating the
use of ecological, locally sourced produce. This way, Compass Group
Belgilux also wants to advance its environmentally friendly policy
in the future.
