Scolarest grows with KATHO Kortrijk and HOGENT

Over the past 5 years, universities in Flanders have grown at over 5% a year. Some courses are even having to cope with growth spikes of 15%. This sharp rise in the number of university students is having an effect on all support services, including catering. Scolarest is busy meeting the challenge at KATHO Kortrijk and HOGENT.

From traditional to takeaway

Scolarest has been the catering partner at Hogeschool Gent since 2009. In practical terms, this means that on the Schoonmeersen Campus, Scolarest has the responsibility of managing the various food outlets. In this regard, Scolarest places the emphasis on a creative and innovative approach, which the cooks focusing on both flavour and colour on the plate. As you would expect, the traditional offering of food is well represented on the Schoonmeersen Campus. But Scolarest is also approaching the challenge by providing modern concepts, such as a pasta and wok takeaway, the fast and tasty solution for the busy student. On 26th September 2011, the new 'Piazza' restaurant concept was added to the catering mix.

Shop2Go: first total store concept on the education market

Also beginning on 26th September 2011, Scolarest is giving the students at Hogeschool Gent the opportunity to do their day-to-day shopping on the campus itself. The Shop2Go store concept covers everything for students: fresh food for taking back to their rooms, healthy snacks for eating on the go, magazines, study materials, fresh takeaway coffee, and so on.

This unique approach to shopping is the first total retail concept of colleges and universities that truly meets the needs of generation Y.

KATHO also opts for Scolarest's creative vision

Another rapidly growing centre of education is the Catholic College for Southwest Flanders (KATHO). The catering services at the college have been in the capable hands of Scolarest since 1st September. Facilities include the 'Forum' bistro, which consists of a student restaurant and a sandwich shop. The 'Forum' bistro is open to the public, which means that non-students can also enjoy the catering provided by Scolarest. The offering is also being expanded to include the new 'Piazza' restaurant concept.

During the course of the 2011-2012 academic year, Scolarest will be working in partnership with KATHO to transform its range of services to fit in with the food and education concept of Eat.Learn.Live.
