COMPASS GROUP AIMS TO HALVE FOOD WASTE BY 2030
During the sixth edition of Stop Food Waste Day, a day on which we annually call attention to food waste as an issue, Compass Group announced an international expansion of our package of solutions for the management of food waste.
The ultimate ambition is to halve all food waste across our global operations by 2030. As the world's largest player in the food service industry, we are mindful of our impact and want to make a positive difference.
Currently, as much as a third of all food produced for human consumption goes to waste. This translates to 1.3 billion tonnes of food per year, worth approximately $1 trillion. With all the food that is wasted, you could feed as many as 2 billion people. A global expansion of food waste reduction solutions in kitchens will reduce waste and carbon impact across all our culinary teams.
