Leuven was closed off to cars this weekend because of the World cycling championships. Our colleagues from Medirest and Zorg Leuven jumped on a carrier bicycle so that all home care clients could still receive their meals.

"It was a little bit of a puzzle. The route was mapped out so that our cyclists did not have to use the World Championship path. Fortunately, all houses in Leuven are accessible by means of slight detours or by regularly taking your bike by the hand. But it was still quite a challenge," says Bieke Verlinden, chairperson of Zorg Leuven.

The organisation has committed itself to regularly using bicycles as an environmentally friendly alternative to cars for home deliveries of meals.
